When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
1 Corinthians 13:11(NKJV)
I don't do superstition. The fact that this is day 13 of prayer means nothing at all to me, except that it falls between days 12 and 14. On this day, my prayer is that my beloved might continue to grow spiritually; being done with childish things, that he would continually cultivate, understand, and press toward the likeness of Christ. It is a prayer that he would grow up. On this day, mine is a prayer of thanksgiving…I have never had any such concerns about my husband. According to my father-in-law, he was born with a mustache.
No, silly, not literally. According to Dad, he has always been sober, serious, mature. No, he’s not a drag. On the contrary, the very fact that he can be so droll and carefree is one of our favorite secrets. You only get to see that side if you’re part of his inner circle. He is certainly not hiding it; his insouciance is like night blooming jasmine. I am the silly wabbit. Somebody’s got to be minding the store.
I am comforted and blessed by my serious man. The way he loves me is serious. The way he parents is serious. The way he works…so serious. And seriously, I wouldn’t have it any way.
As I look forward to snuggling up with my serious man, maybe even watch a movie…thank you Lord, for giving me a man; a grown~ss man. A peculiar, precious, and rare man, like night blooming jasmine, born with a mustache. A man who, because of the way he loves me, reminds me daily, God is good.
