Unexpected grace...

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

I'm hanging with Lisha at the Give me Grace
link-up. Join us?
More stuff to do than time or resources to get it done the way I wanted/planned/expected.  It has to get done--nobody cares.  Welcome to life.  Today was supposed to be one of those days; it’s the way I envisioned the week.  I won’t complain.  I won’t complain because I know that there, just beyond my grasp or line of sight, is just enough mercy to do everything necessary to satisfy God’s plan.  And that should be the lesson, right? That is the lesson, but it’s not the only one.  God is so much bigger than our imaginings, and that lesson alone gives me one more reason to Praise Him.

I assess the day, offering praise that “it is what it is.”  I have shown up, and for all those who laid down last night and did not rise to face another day, I offer my thanks.  Rouse the husband,
wake the kids, start the day.  I can do it, even if I'm not certain how. I am assured that it will happen, not on wishes, but on Faith.

The Emperor Penguins are loved by God….

I love the sound of God’s voice. I hear Him in the most unexpected places. I stay grateful, because Grace lives at the end of my rope.

Today wasn’t a good day. I was feeling pressed down on every side; discouraged, devoid of Hope, ready to pack it in and join the circus (that’s usually the image that comes to mind when I’m ready to give up. I don’t think I’d ever really run away and join the circus; I doubt they’d have me, but it’s a nice fantasy when I need one. I digress.) Instead, My Beloved and I watched Nature on PBS.

The only vertebrae breeding during Antarctic winters where temperatures drop to below -50 °C, emperor penguins trek 50–120 km (31–75 mi) over ice to breeding colonies which may include thousands. Temperatures falling below below -50 °C are beyond my imagining,or my tolerance, but instinctively, emperors huddle for warmth, rotating positions within and outside the center of the huddle ensuring that everyone stays warm, and alive.

As I mentioned, today wasn’t a good day. However, the emperors put me in mind of Matthew 6:26 (GNT), wherein  the Word says,

Look at the birds: they do not plant seeds, gather a harvest and put it in barns; yet your Father in heaven takes care of them! Aren't you worth much more than birds?

I cannot say that everything felt right after watching the emperor penguins, but I was thankful. Yes, Lord, despite where I am, I hear You. I appreciate the order and the elegance of Your Creation, and that You care for us. For me.  While my dog Sando usually preaches the sermons, this icy lesson came courtesy of the Emperor Penguins.

Thank You, Lord, for the sound of Your Voice. Thank You for Blessed Assurances, particularly those sent unexpected, from within the Gathering Swarms on PBS.  The Emperor Penguins are loved by God and so are we.

I talked to God today….

Oh relax, I’m not crazy, and I talk to God often, but this is different, and I wanted to share the story with you.

It had already been a good day; I’d been productive at work, an anticipated conversation went better than expected, and I was on my way to troll the aisles of the grocery store for inspiration for dinner (don’t judge, at least it wasn’t take out or something frozen…I was making the effort to cook.) Anyway…
