spending 31 days preparing to pursue my God-sized dream

And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions.
Joel 2:28 (NIV)

Day 1 of 31-

You’ve got to marry your dream
to the will to pursue it.
"Preparing to pursue my God-sized dream"
I can’t say that it all started with Holley Gerth’s dare to keep dreaming, but it certainly took off because of it. You see, about two years ago, one day my soul opened up and a blog fell out. I started writing regularly and more than 200,000 words later, I can’t stop. They aren’t my words. I prayed and sought God’s face guidance and tried (squirming) to be silent in order to share what He places on my heart. I hasn’t been easy, either the sharing nor the silence; it isn’t easy. Along this journey he has stilled me, granted me peace, hidden me, accepted my repeated surrenders, you know, where I thought I was ready OR I thought I’d really given up but hadn’t yet, and finally, taught me to live and love broken, as a testament of my devotion to His Will.  It hasn’t always been fun, but I have grown immensely, discovered bravery (AKA His perfect strength in my incontrovertible weakness) and appreciated faith through some of the most difficult and exhausting trials of my life (yeah, it’s been that kind of year). So, when, on November 13 I committed to taking the notion of writing a book out of my heart and placing it into the world, I’d heard and answered Holley’s call but didn’t know if she’d heard or considered me. That day, prayerfully (with all kinds of trembling on the inside), acknowledging from my soul that God was in control, I said it out loud, read “put it on the blog.”

Here’s the thing about dreaming. It’s not enough to just have a dream. You’ve got to marry your dream to the will to pursue it. Oh, and here is a thing I’ve learned about God; when you’re listening as He speaks, He will let you know when you’re getting it right.

The very next day, before 9:00 am, a full three weeks before I anticipated the possibility of an answer from a God-sized dream nurturer, I got an email…

Hello Beautiful God-sized Dreamer!
Thank you so much for wanting to be part of the God-sized Dreams Team. I'm thrilled to let you know what you are on it. :)

This is the kind of thing God shows me when I finally settle down, sit quietly, and watch Him work. That’s another thing I’ve learned about God. He moves at Godspeed, which is really fast.

So, before life gets all kind of crazy, like it always does, I thought I’d set aside the next 31 days to get ready to pursue my God-sized dream-which I believe and have declared to be the publishing of a book, testimonies about my life with a cup always overflowing. There are 99 of us (I’ll have to ask about that number, since in my mind I’m always the 100th sheep of my Father who is the shepherd, you know, the amiable lamb usually meandering in the wrong direction at first, meaning well but getting lost…).

On day 1, I am confessing my dream and laying it lovingly upon the altar of Grace. Lord, if it be Your Will, please sanctify my offering that it might be an instrument fit for Your use. Finally, I am marrying this dream to my will to pursue it. Earl Nightingale wrote,
Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.

As always, Lord, You are in control. I am along for what may be the ride of my life. And away we go…

Today I am praying and playing with Sandra Heska King in Still Saturday...
