Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.
Psalms 37:4 (AMP)
Day 1 of 31-
Confess my dream and marrying it to my will to pursue it.
Day 2 of 31-
Pray about it, and be still.
Day 3 of 31-
What I heard in the quiet…
After I promised to be prayerful and quiet, I went off to Sunday worship (is that the meaning of delighting myself in the Lord?). The message was entitled “Not yet, but almost.” I kept wondering if what I was hearing was that it is nearly time for my dreams to be released…
Returning home, I read Mommy’s emailed comments on the blog. Included was something that had slipped my mind, that being that Psalms 37:4 was among my dad’s favorite personal scriptures. (It felt like a hug, Dad. I still love you. I’ll never stop missing you, nor thanking God for placing you in my life).
While dinner was cooking, I sat to read for a bit. Not only was the meditation referencing Psalms 37:4, instead of the NIV translation of “the desires of your heart”, this version read “the secret petitions of your heart.” Next I read, “these are your hidden dreams, those secret desires…Know this today, God wants to bring your secret petitions to pass….”
Thank you, Lord for encouragement that comes in the stillness…I should be quiet more. I remind myself that God is in control, and I am along for what may be the ride of my life.…
Kristin Strong, writing at holleygerth.com gave this very good advice about pursuing a God sized dream….so I will let her tell you about it. (I’m being quiet)
When God instills a God-sized dream in your heart He is telling you YOU ARE ENOUGH. You know enough. You have what it takes. You may not think it, feel it, or see anything in front of you that proves it, but it’s true nonetheless. Sometimes it may take missing-recess-up-all-night kind of effort, but keep going the distance.
God-sized dreams penetrate deep. So, if it seems yours is taking time to bloom, perhaps it means He is still growing it. Don’t give up on the fact that His dream (and the wait!) for you is ripe with purpose.
On Mondays, I pray and play with friends here...
