"I know you're supposed to be my steering wheel, not just my spare tire"

But from everlasting to everlasting, the LORD's mercy is on those who fear him. His righteousness belongs to their children and grandchildren,
Psalms 103:17 (GW)

Dear Lord,
Walking the dog this morning, I received yet another message from You that the path I'm on is the right one. Lately, I've learned so much about the role of faith in my life and I am grateful, Lord, that You've been my steering wheel, not my spare tire (Tennessee ,  3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days in the Life Of....Arrested Development). I am known to You. (whew)

I am trusting You, not out of a sense of
obligation, but because in You is where I belong.

At some of the most difficult times in my life, I have prayed. I have sought strength, I have sought courage, I have learned never to seek answers. I am content to be with You, to be in Your care, trusting that Your plans are better, and that Your Love for me is the most powerful force I know.  I have come to learn that praying is not about bargaining, praying is the same kind of solace we seek from those close to us; comfort, companionship; peace.  I am grateful, Lord, that You've been my steering wheel, not my spare tire.

You have always been there, from everlasting to everlasting. Before I was, You knew me. Before I knew how to call upon You, You knew the path my life would take, and that You would be there with me, sometimes following, sometimes carrying, usually laughing...like I did when our children first learned how to walk, in love, laced with amusement. I am grateful, Lord, that You've been my steering wheel, not my spare tire.

When things have gotten rough, especially lately, I am thankful that You challenge us to prove you,
Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. (Malachi 3:10 NIV)
knowing that we are suspicious and skeptical, not intentionally, but because we are human. You love us anyway. Thank God you steer.

I am trusting You, not out of a sense of obligation, but because in You is where I belong. I was not designed to be a steering wheel, and You are not my spare tire. I love you, and am deeply grateful to belong to You. Now and Forever. From everlasting to everlasting. Your love, Your guidance, Your unwavering presence in my life, all reminders that You are Good.

Amen.
