When God wants to bless you…

In their hearts humans plan their course,
but the Lord establishes their steps.
Proverbs 16:9 (NIV)

He doesn’t really care about anything else. Okay, slow down, don’t leave just yet. We plan. We mean really well when we do. My BFF is a planner, and while she and my Gayle have my utmost respect, I believe part of the foundation of our deep and lasting love for each other is that we respect that we are different. I love my planners, but I’m not one. But that is not this story.

This story is about the beauty of the aerial view. Every now and then, when the puzzle is nearly complete, God allows us to see the way that numerous threads, seemingly disconnected strands, decisions we made or things that happened, sometimes entirely beyond our control, align in that “all things work together for good to them who love the Lord” kind of way.

I didn’t know that a miracle would change my schedule on Mondays from overscheduled “train wreck” to available; God did. I didn’t know that my BFF would need to know she could ask for favors I could grant on Mondays. God did. My BFF didn’t know that the flexible work arrangement she should have requested months ago would seem preempted by a colleague who seemed to have gotten ahead of her in line, but God did. She thought she might be denied, but God already worked everything out, in that “all things work together for good to them who love the Lord” kind of way.

We didn’t know that God had a plan to change big things in our world as the small things got moved around, and we didn’t need to know. We couldn’t handle knowing the master plan, and that is why He is God, Alone. So you see, when God intends a blessing you, there is no force on earth that will stop Grace. That is the story. That is today’s evidence that God is good.

On Sundays I pray and play at Spiritual Sundays, the Reflection of Him, and Heart Reflected
and with my Soli Deo Gloria sisters.
