LORD, you are my God;
I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect
faithfulness
you have done wonderful things,
things planned long ago… You have been a refuge for the poor,
a refuge for the needy in their distress,
a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat.

Isaiah 25:1 and 4 (NIV)
Storms come; we
prepare as best we can, but ultimately, we are provided Shelter. We put things away, we batten down hatches,
but we are provided Shelter. We pray
for safety, God’s Grace, and that His Presence would abide with us. We seek Shelter.

Life can make you weary, and here is what I
know. The Four
Seasons and Fergie
got it wrong…big girls do cry. We get
weary, but we persevere, because we know Shelter. It’s okay to cry, it’s okay
to be afraid (though when we understand the nature of God we understand fear to
be unnecessary). Despite our humanness, we pray to be sheltered, knowing
that God’s Goodness and Mercy are and have always been sufficient to meet our
needs. Faith reminds us that fear is
unnecessary; out of step with faith.
Storms make great noise, but like so
many things in life, to little or no effect. He is our Shelter, our refuge, our
shade from the heat. We are covered.
So, at the end of a stormy week and
the end of a long but beautiful day, Lord, I exalt and praise Your Name. You
have done wonderful things. I am thankful and grateful and encouraged. I am
weary, but yet awash in wonder. I continue
to be imprisoned by hope; captivated by joy. Sometimes life is wonderful. When
storms come, I have the blessed assurance that good comes soon after. And
that assurance reminds me that my cup is never empty. I am reminded that God is
good.
