I am clear…

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
1 John 4:1 (ESV)

Father, please send people into our lives who take us higher, rather than bring us lower. --- And give us the wisdom to know the difference. ~In Jesus' Name, Amen

I had the experience last year of working with someone who just seemed unpleasant. I try to see the best in people, understanding that as Plato famously wrote,
“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle.”
Surrender granted me clarity.
Surrender gave me something
to focus upon beside myself,
making all the difference.
I am clear...

I believe that I did try to see the best, make the best, being patient in all things, focusing upon the lessons I might need to learn about myself while struggling to achieve a good working relationship with my challenging colleague. By the end of the year, I’d given up, comfortable that my lesson was more about surrendering to the Will of the Holy Spirit than trying to make nice. Nice wasn’t working. Hiding (as in under the shadow of His Wing) was a much preferable option.

I’ve had some time to reflect, and have gained some wisdom via discernment. We are not responsible to solve this battle was never mine, but potentially the blessings were… The blessing came in learning to yield; learning not to resist, learning not to put up the fight in the first place. Whereas in another time I would still be examining this failed relationship over in my head, analyzing, assessing what I might have done differently to achieve a more preferable outcome, I am clear. I did my best, and I moved on.

I believe that my clarity is confirmation that I got it right. I believe that finding a prayer in my daily reading that asked,
Father, please send people into our lives who take us higher, rather than bring us lower. --- And give us the wisdom to know the difference. ~In Jesus' Name, Amen
was confirmation that this lesson, in this manner, had been learned, and I could move on. Whereas in another time I would still be struggling over my perceived failure, I am clear.

Surrender granted me clarity. Surrender gave me something to focus upon beside myself, making all the difference. Everyone we meet is indeed fighting a harder battle, an internal struggle in which we can play no part. That was my lesson, and now I understand. I am clear. Clarity is among the reasons I am certain that God is good.
