A gracious offer of pardon and peace…

You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace

the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
    will clap their hands.
Isaiah 55:12 (NIV)

A blessing may come from a very unlikely place. Most days, I can find my calm center. Most days I am able to quiet the noise, resist the urge to growl back, be snide, and get drawn in. Today was not one of those days.

Today I let somebody else’s bad mood sour mine. Only this morning I reminded myself that “there is always a reason to be unhappy.  If that is so, then there is always a reason to BE happy.” Sadly, I lost my right reason. Fortunately, a blessing, coming from a very unlikely place, help me get it back.
Isaiah’s ancient message resonates today. He foretells the salvation and restoration of His People while ensuring them (us) that “great promises of the blessings of peace, safety, prosperity and victory are held out to those who obediently walk in God’s perfect will for their lives.” Isaiah graciously offers us pardon and peace.

It’s human to reflect what you receive. It is better to reflect like God does for us…unchanging. Unchanged by someone else’s sour mood.  Able to go out in joy; be led forth in peace.  Can you imagine the mountains and the hills bursting forth in song? That is the spirit I desire to reflect always, and my blessing, my charge came from a very unlikely place.

in the middle of my day. I didn’t get it right away, but it was received nonetheless.  I accept Your gracious offer of pardon and peace, and appreciate it for so many reasons, not the least of which was its timeliness.  A blessing came to me today from a very unlikely place, and changed both my mood and my heart. Isaiah blessed me during the 2nd act of a Broadway musical. What possible additional evidence might you require to know that God is good.
