Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:
Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.
Psalms 66:1-2 (KJV)
Walking the dog this morning, I was kinda feeling in the groove. It’s a good day, a Friday. I had the wonderful experience of having a blog post I really cared about featured on BloggyMoms.com, felt free and cool in my running shorts and vintage Steigman t-shirt, the sky was blue, the clouds were white, everything was good in my world. When “Surely” by Israel and New Breed came on the iPod, I took a cursory look around and began to sing, LOUD! Yeah, baby, it’s me and the dog and the Universe engaged in the act of worship.
So what if someone hears me, it’s not like I was ranting and raving or being offensive…
So what if someone hears me, I’m sharing the Joy of the Lord!
So what if someone hears me, I can actually sing, a little bit.
The dog didn’t mind, I didn’t see anyone around (I neither looked nor cared), and I felt good.
Music is a vehicle for me, carrying me out of, or into a mood, ushering me into His presence, or helping me fully embrace a vibe I happen to be feeling. I know some folks run naked (hey, take it easy, I mean running with no music as a distraction), but I look forward to programming my iPod
Except to say spontaneous worship is clearly evidence that God is Good.
