Peace and prayer...

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)

For the first 10 years of our marriage, we worshipped in the Anglican Church.  It is where we met, it is the fellowship into which my husband’s family entered as émigrés, where the parish priest christened our children and blessed our home.  Each Sunday, after readings from the Old Testament and the Gospels, we Passed the Peace…proclaiming our faith and declaring our peace with God and with one another.  Today, joyfully, I pray my husband’s continued peace.

Peace ain’t easy…particularly the peace that passes all understanding.  There is so much in life threatening peace, internally and externally.  I am thankful, both for my husband and my family for our source.  We are not disconnected.  We are not alone.  Our instruction is as follows, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

So, thank You, Lord for a praying man of peace.  He calms me, soothing, reminding me that he constantly prays for my life, my security, my joy, our remarkable children, one of whom is newly 15 today…Happy Birthday, Princess!  I am abundantly blessed, even through my storms.  And with that covering of Grace, I can pursue transcending peace, and pass it around…courtesy of Andraé Crouch…

My peace I leave with you
My peace I give to you
In a world that is filled
With confusion and fear
My peace I leave with you
We have a day full of celebrating to get to… celebration...affirming that God is good.

  3. Thanks for sharing this - I can certainly see myself in this. Peace is my issue, as I am often consumed with too much worry and stress over things I should just turn over to the Lord and let go of. Finding peace is not as easy as it seems.
